The Höskuldsskáli hut in Hrafntinnusker, run by FÍ, accommodates 52 people and is located on the Laugavegur trail. The hut features an entrance hall, a kitchen with utensils, gas stoves and cold, running water, a dormitory with single and double bunks (with mattresses) and a loft with sleeping bag accommodation. Outside is a charcoal grill, and there's a special hut for the wardens just west of the main house. A toilet with latrines and sinks is behind the hut, and a big patio surrounds the hut and connects it with the latrines. There are no showers in the area, and a latrine/outhouse is located at the camping ground below the hut. The hut is almost inaccessible by car, so all guests are asked to take their trash along with them and leave nothing behind at the lodge. Please note, everyone not staying overnight at the huts or at the campsite is required to pay a facility fee for the usage of the bathrooms and outdoor facilities such as grill and benches. The opening season of the hut depends on when the Icelandic Road Authority opens the roads in the Nature Reserve Fjallabak, and the hut is usually open from June 25 to September 16. Book the hut in advance.
