Laugarhóll campsite in Bjarnarfjörður is a convenient and peaceful spot to pitch your tent, with water and toilets available on site. Nearby, you'll find Hotel Laugarhóll, a natural geothermal outdoor swimming pool (32-35°C) and hot pool (41°C), perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring the wilderness. This area is the eastern-most part of the Westfjords, and Hotel Laugarhóll is centrally located for exploring the stunning Strandir region.
Take a few days to explore neighboring regions on shorter day tours, such as visiting the smallest farming community in Iceland in Árneshreppur, swimming in the warm pool at the edge of the arctic ocean in Krossnes (80 km), or exploring the ghostly herring factory in Djúpavík (44 km). There are many other exciting activities to enjoy, including hiking through the mountains, bird watching on the riverbank of Bjarnarfjarðará river, and whale watching from Hólmavík or horseback riding with Strandahestar. You can also visit the eiderdown museum or the seaweed baths in Reykhólar, or hike for an hour to explore Kaldalón and Drangjökull. The campsite also allows dogs and has walking paths available. Additionally, there is a restaurant on site for your convenience.
