The Laugafell hut, owned by the Akureyri Touring Association (ATA), has a rich history dating back to its construction between 1948-1950. Nestled south of the end of the Eyjafjardardalur valley and 15 kilometers northeast of the stunning Hofsjokull glacier, this mountain hut boasts thermal water heating, courtesy of the nearby hot springs. With all necessary utensils and a stove, guests can comfortably accommodate up to 15 people, plus an additional five in the attic of the WC and shower house. During the summer months, a friendly warden is present to attend to guests' needs. An outdoor swimming pool and a cozy camping site are also available for visitors. The hut is surrounded by numerous tracks and trails leading to exciting destinations such as Eyjafjordur, Skagafjordur, Bardardalur valley, and the Sprengisandur Route.
