Laugaland campsite is the perfect spot for a peaceful family getaway. The site is divided into two areas, with plenty of amenities for children, including three playgrounds and a football field. You can also take advantage of the on-site swimming pool with hot tubs and a water slide. During the summer, the pool is open on weekdays from 14:00-21:00 and on weekends from 10:00-19:00.
For those who love the outdoors, Laugaland is an ideal location for hiking with a marked path from the site to the forestry field in the area. The walk there and back is approximately 5 km and you can bring a picnic to enjoy at the outdoor tables in the forest. The nearby church area : is only a 1.5 km walk away, while the horse ranch, where you can see old saddlery, pet the horses, and go horseback riding, is just 4 km away. Other nearby attractions include the tourism area Leirubakki, which is about 25 km away and offers a hotel, restaurant, and gas station. At Leirubakki, you can also visit the Heklusetur museum about the volcano Hekla. The biggest manmade cave in Iceland is about 18 km away from Laugaland at the farm Hellum and is a popular sight to see. Horse rentals are available in four different locations: Skeiðvöllum (5 km), Hestheimar (7 km), Kálfholti (18 km), and Leirubakki (25 km). The nearest village with all services is Hella, which is approximately 14 km away. The Strönd golf course is also nearby, located about 18 km away. The Laugaland campsite provides electricity, waste disposal for mobile homes, hot and cold water, toilets, and an outdoor barbecue. Dogs are allowed on the site but must be kept on a leash, and owners must clean up after them. The site has three small guesthouses available to rent, including Eldey, Ísey, and Otri, which can be booked through Airbnb.
