Meðalfellsvatn is located in Kjósarhreppur, approximately 50 km from Reykjavík. To reach it, drive into Hvalfjörður just before reaching Hvalfjörður Tunnel. Then, turn right and follow Route 461 towards the lake.
Meðalfellsvatn covers around 2 km² and reaches a depth of approximately 18 meters. The lake's elevation is 46 meters above sea level. It is fed by Sandsá and Flekkudalsá, with Bugsa flowing out into Laxá in Kjós. The lake is home to salmon and trout, with Laxá in Kjós connecting to Bugða and entering the lake.
