Sléttuhlíðarvatn is situated between Hofsós and Siglufjörður, right by the national road in the land of Hraun.
The road distance from Reykjavík is approximately 360 km, 21 km from Hofsós, and 50 km from Sauðárkrókur.
The lake covers an area of 0.76 km² and is at an elevation of 14 meters above sea level.
Individual day licenses can be purchased for Sléttuhlíðarvatn.
Fishing is only allowed in the land of Hraun, with signs marking the fishing boundaries.
Camping by the lake is allowed in consultation with the fishing warden, and fishing cabins in the vicinity of the lake can be rented.
Both sea-run and resident fish, including sea trout and Arctic char, are abundant in the lake.
Fishing is exclusively allowed with fly, worm, and spinner.
The best fishing conditions are generally experienced in May and June, but fishing remains good throughout the season.
The landowner is not responsible for any losses or damages that Fishing Cardholders may incur or any incidents related to the presence of anglers on the fishing area.
