Hraunfjarðarvatn is nestled in the enchanting landscapes of Snæfellsnes, situated approximately 160 km from Reykjavík. It's about 15 km south of both Grundarfjörður and Stykkishólmur, accessible through the new road network on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The last section of the journey requires a 15-minute walk, suitable only for four-wheel-drive vehicles.

About the Lake

Covering an area of about 2.5 km2, Hraunfjarðarvatn reaches a depth of 84 meters, making it the deepest where the lake is located. The lake is situated approximately 207 meters above sea level, and Vatnaá flows from Hraunfjarðarvatn into Baulárvallarvatn.
