Úlfljótsvatn - The Upper Part of Sog River

Situated in Grafningur, south of Þingvallavatn, Úlfljótsvatn is the upper part of the Sog River, between Írafoss and Steingrímsstöð. The fishing area covers the western part of the lake, excluding the land owned by the Icelandic Scouts and the Forestry Association of Iceland.

Getting There from Reykjavík and Nearby Settlements

The lake is about 65 km from Reykjavík, accessible either via Hellisheiði or Þingvellir, with a shorter 40 km route known as Nesjavallaleið.

Individual day licenses can be purchased for Úlfljótsvatn.

Fishing Area and Restrictions

The Icelandic Scouts and the Forestry Association of Iceland jointly own the land around Úlfljótsvatn. Fishing is allowed in the Scout and Forestry land, marked by designated areas. The fishing area extends from Steingrímsstöð to Írafoss. It's important to respect the boundaries, and note that fishing in the spawning grounds of Upper Sog River is strictly prohibited.
