Hreðavatn is nestled in Norðurárdalur, along National Highway 1. Accessible by taking Norðurárdalur and turning west just south of Bifröst, it is approximately 115 km from Reykjavík via Hvalfjörður Tunnel and 30 km from Borgarnes.
Hreðavatn is an accessible and abundant fishing lake in a beautiful environment near Bifröst. With an area of about 1 km² and a maximum depth of around 20m, it stands at an elevation of 56m above sea level.
Day licenses can be purchased to explore the fishing grounds of Hreðavatn.
Anglers are allowed to fish in the Hreðavatn area, located to the north of the lake. Fishing boundaries are marked on the map.
Camping by the lake is prohibited, but various travel service providers are available in the vicinity.
Hreðavatn is home to both trout and char, ranging from small to large fish.
Legal bait includes flies, worms, and spinners.
The best time to fish in Hreðavatn is during the early part of summer, but fairly good fishing can be expected throughout the season.
