Getting There from Reykjavík and Nearby Settlements
The lake is approximately 664 km from Reykjavík and only 5 km from Egilsstaðir. Highways 1 and 925 run near the lake, making it easily accessible for all vehicles.

- Depth: Maximum depth is around 15 m.
- Altitude: The lake is situated at about 40 m above sea level.
- Inflows: Hafralónslækur and Merkilækur flow into Urriðavatn, and the outflow is through Urriðavatnslækur.

Fishing Area
Fishing is allowed throughout the lake. Main fishing spots include the mouth of Hafralækur, Urriðavatnslækur, and near the hot water tank.
Accommodation
Tent sites can be purchased from Skipalæk, located close to Lagarfljót. Camping by the lake is not permitted.
Fish Variety: Arctic Char
Urriðavatn is home to Arctic char. The average size is around 1 pound, but larger fish can also be found.

Permitted bait includes fly, worm, and spinner.
Best Fishing Times: Early Spring, Ice Melting
The best fishing times are in early spring when the ice starts to melt. Fishing is most productive in calm conditions.

- There is good berry picking near Urriðavatn, and Vök Baths are located by the lake.

- Fishing cardholders must register at Urriðavatn and present necessary identification.
