2. Do I need to book space at the campsites?
No, bookings are not required in Iceland. You can simply arrive at the campsite and set up your tent or camper, or register upon arrival if necessary.
3. What if the campsite is fully booked?
This is uncommon but may occur if the weather is particularly bad in other areas and campers converge on better weather locations. In such cases, it’s recommended to call ahead. Contact numbers for each campsite are available online.
4. What is the Overnight Tax?
The Overnight Tax is a government-mandated fee of 333 ISK per night.

9. Can I use the Camping Card during the winter?
No, the Camping Card is valid only from the opening date of the campsites, usually in May or early June, until September 15th each year.
10. Will there be additional costs when staying at a campsite?
Aside from the Overnight Tax, additional fees may apply for certain amenities, such as electricity, showers, and washing machines.
11. Does the Camping Card also cover campervans and trailers?
Yes, the Camping Card is valid for tents, camping trailers, RVs, caravans, and similar units.
