Þverbrekknamúli Hut and Campsite

The Thverbrekknamuli hut, operated by the Icelandic Touring Association (ITA), is located southeast of Mt Hrutfell and near the Fulakvisl river. It's conveniently situated on the middle of the ancient Kjolur Route and was built in 1980 to accommodate 20 people. The hut is heated with gas and an oil-stove, and a WC is located nearby. Visitors should note that there are no utensils in the house and they must take all garbage with them. A latrine for winter travelers is situated a bit further away. The fifth bridge across the Fulakvisl river was constructed in 2005. Previous bridges were either swept away by floods or unable to bear the weight of winter snow. Please book online in advance.
